Ripped Me a New One

I went for my first Brazilian today - the day before I leave for Hawaii to get married. I've had a regular bikini wax before but thought I'd go all out for the wedding. So, I made an appointment with the most reputable waxer in town.

All was well until she went down and did the portion closest to the inside (you know where I mean!). At that point, she switched to the hard wax (instead of the previous method - soft wax and paper). After that first pull... my skin ripped and I had a two gashes... the largest one was about an inch long and pretty deep (for a waxing wound!), and the smaller one was only and 1/4" long and just on the surface. I was bleeding like crazy and my waxer started to get worried even though I insisted I was fine - I didn't really know about the gashes at that point. She immediately called her doctor and got me an appointment ASAP. She followed me and my fiance to the office and even canceled her next appointment to be with me.

I had my bridesmaid, Melinda meet me, because Brandon about passed out from the thought of all of it! So, Melinda came into the doctor's office and bore witness to this special event. She held my hand as the doctor injected me (RIGHT NEXT TO THE CUT) with the local anesthetic... ouch did that hurt! Then, they had me waddle into another room with the paper around my naked waist so the doctor could stitch me up. I didn't feel anything that time.

The most embarrassing, and slightly disgusting part (you mean it gets worse?... oh yeah.)....

I told the doctor that I was on my period and didn't want the waxer to know, so I had snipped off the string on the tampon and put it inside me. I asked if it would hurt when I pulled it out later. The doctor offered to pull it out for my right then (poor Melinda was still in the room!) and I told her to go for it.

The doctor ended up showing Melinda the stitches because they have to come out in 5 days and someone's gotta do it! So, she showed Melinda what to do and gave her some fun little tools to use. If we weren't close before.. we are now!

Needless to say.. I'm now only half waxed, in pain, can't shower until tomorrow, and am leaving for a 5 hour car drive to L.A. tomorrow morning so we can catch our flight to Maui later that evening. Sadly, I wont be able to swim or partake in any honeymoon activities - at least until the stitches are out, even then I have to be careful.
