Another PT Update

We got the bells and two days later... T rings the bells! Hooray! Though he only rang them the first two times so we would take him downstairs to play with the neighbor dog, Sadie. *sigh* Oh well. He knew what it meant!

This morning, after breakfast, he actually walked over and slapped them with his paw. I took him out and he went poo-poo! (Is it sad that I am getting excited over this?)

As far as peeing in the crate goes... hubby and I have decided not to let T have water or food after 7pm. The first night, he still peed in his crate (even after putting him in the tiny one). Last night, he didn't pee, but he did have Hubby up and outside with him 3 different times :( We had even tried tiring him out with a walk and lots of playtime before bed. Usually he falls asleep around 8pm... but we kept him up until 9:30pm! Didn't work.

What will it take to get this boy to sleep through the night? I don't want it for our own sanity, just for our own safety... we have bears here ya know!

Potty Training Update

We bought bells last night. Yep, bells. Though I have little faith in them and have pretty much accepted the fact that I'll be cleaning up piddle stains with Nature's Miracle for the rest of T's life!

He is 12 weeks old... and hasn't learned a damn thing about potty training yet. We take him out all of the time, and that eliminates accidents. However, he is VERY unpredictable when it comes to BMs or peeing. We can take him outside and he'll go both #1 and #2 but when we bring him back in he'll go #1 again 15 minutes later. Grrr. He hasn't learned anything about holding it, let alone letting us know he has to go outside....hence the potty bells.

We are crate training him.... sort of. I guess I need to be a little more strict on that. He pretty much only goes in his crate to nap during the day and sleep at night. Which.. if you have a pup or a boston, you know they do sleep a lot! But we haven't been doing the "in and out" thing very well.

Also, we bought him a new, fancy crate. It was one of those soft sided ones with the mesh. We skipped the in between size and went straight for the full-grown-T-size.... but I think he has too much room inside of it, because every night he pees in there. *sigh*

That's it. The hubby and I are making new rules today...and we are even going to create an OFFICIAL eating schedule.... not to mention a "Potty Diary" to see if we can figure out the pattern!

Wish us luck.

He's Home

We've had T a week now. Boy has his personality grown in the last week! When we first picked him up, he was hardly scared at all! We picked him up, drove to petsmart, and then hopped in the car for a 3 hour drive home. He slept in my lap the entire time!

We tried crate training him... and failed miserably only because I couldn't handle the crying! He sleeps with us now and is finally sleeping through the night. We do put him in his crate when he naps during the day and for short periods of time when we run errands. We are working on it and he is getting better. I understand the significance of crate training... I just don't have the self control to do it 100% right off the bat.

T's first week at home has been a rather eventful one. He was bit by a spider on Wednesday morning. I woke up and saw him shivering and whimpering every time he moved his neck.

We rushed him to the vet (he actually had an appointment for later that day for another round of shots and a check up) and she identified the bite and put him on icky antibiotics and gave him puppy pain pills. He took the pain pills for that day only and is on the antibiotics for a total of 10 days. He recovered with in 24 hours.. and now is as spunky as ever!

Thursday was T's first trip to the park! He had a blast and was wiped out for the remainder of the day.
