Yawn

Tonight is the night...the night when I will "force" F to sleep in his crate for the Very. First. Time. since we got him last Friday. Oh he is SO going to hate me in the morning!

Last night he kept waking up and playing, wanting to go out, and just plain old moving around. We didn't get any sleep. Now I am going through the day with a scowl on my face, counting down the hours until the weekend.

This morning, he wouldn't eat. He just wanted to be held FOREVER. Finally, I left him alone for a while and he gave in and munched on his food for a little bit, until he realized I was just around the corner, then he cried and cried and cried.

When is puppy-hood over? Ha. Just kidding, sort of.

Just Can't Get Enough

A few pics from this afternoon (another half-day at work, how glorious!)...

I know he kept me up all night, but who could resist this face?

All Alone

Yesterday was F's first day home alone. I'm happy to say, he did fine.... I think.

We set up the exercise pen on the linoleum, just in case. I left him there with his bed, some blankets, toys, food and water, and a piddle pad.

I was so afraid I'd return at lunch to find everything torn up and poop and pee everywhere. Instead, I found a sleepy little puppy curled up in his bed (most likely tired from crying for the first hour or so) with three little piddles on his piddle pad.

Good boy F. Good boy.

Getting Comfy

F had his first vet appointment this morning. All went well. He is a healthy (all be it Small) young lad weighing 2.07 lbs. He goes back next week for shots. The vet was impressed that his ears are standing up so early.

I caught T and F cuddling in the sun this afternoon. It was too much cuteness too handle.... so I (of course) took some pictures to share....

Merry Christmas to All

Visited hubby's family for Christmas. F pooped and pee'd all over Grandpa's floor ... but everyone still loved him (and T too!). we had a nice visit, and are even going back in two weeks (with the pups!) for his Grandpa's 90th birthday.

Road Trip

This was on the way home today ....

Christmas Letter 2006

Dear Family and Friends,

This year started off with more snow than we knew what to do with. We were hoping for something of a “white” New Year but we weren’t quite ready for just how “white” it would get. In the first 36 hours of 2006 we received a pummeling of 8 feet of snow. After digging our car out for the third time during that storm, we realized we were in for one heck of a winter. When the winter finally was over we were quite snow savvy, having lived through the snowiest winter on record for Small Ski Resort Town (668” of snow). Thankfully, the town was small enough that we were able to walk to work. However, this often meant trudging through deep snow to get to work unless the snow plows had miraculously cleared our small road.

Before we knew it April had arrived and while we were still trudging away, we left for Hawaii. We were married on April 22 in a wonderful seaside ceremony on the gorgeous island of Maui. We were able to enjoy two weeks of beautiful weather on the island before returning to Small Ski Resort Town and the mounds of snow still piled up along the roads.

Shortly after our wedding, we decided to add to our new family. Memorial Weekend, we welcomed our brand new addition – T, a ten week old Boston Terrier puppy. Our lives were turned upside down with late night potty excursions into our bear infested lawn, and an emergency trip to the vet after a nasty insect bite. Even though we now have to think twice about going out of town on a whim and we spend our mornings chasing after the little beast with a poop-bag, we couldn’t be happier with the wall-eyed munchkin.

July brought a spontaneous trip to Las Vegas to meet our friends A&P. P was competing in the 30th Annual National Beer Pong Tournament. Yes, Beer Pong, a version of ping pong turned into a drawn out drinking game complete with costumes. We spent an entire 48 hours in the casino without seeing the light of day through the clouds of smoke, or the constantly drawn drapes in the hotel room! Needless to say B plans on competing in this event in 2007.

We were definitely in need of a vacation after our little trip…but unfortunately it was moving time. Our move to MyTown was inspired by the temptations of more than one grocery store to chose from, cheaper rent, and better job opportunities. MyTown is only three hours north of Small Ski Resort Town and about 30 minutes or so from Lake Tahoe…leaving us in proximity to ski resorts and Sierra Nevada hiking trails. It seems our stints as traveling nomads have come to a halt. We are really enjoying being “settled down” and look forward to a new year of adventures.

We hope you all have a happy holidays and a great year to come!

Introduction

I picked F up at 2:00pm. He was a little shaken up, but appears to be just fine, small (2 lbs) but fine!

Here are some pictures of his introduction to T.

Still Waiting

Go to pick F up in a few hours. I'm off work early due to a power outage...just hanging out nervously with T.

Here is T enjoying some peanut butter...

Let it Snow

Finally Surprised

We have been looking into Digital SLR cameras for about 2 years now... back when we first discovered the Nikon D70 and all it's glory! There even came a time when a horrific Cambodian River Monster yanked our digital camera right out of my husband's hands and swooshed it away to the deep, murky, depths of the river...Angkor Wat pictures and all! After that, obviously scaring, incident, we were in the market for a new camera and seriously contemplated purchasing the Nikon D70. Unfortunately, we were low on funds, in a foreign country with high import taxes on things like Cameras, and were in a time crunch. There was no way I was going to go one more leg of that trip with out a camera to document my adventures! So, we settled for the Panasonic DMC-LC70 at a reasonable price.... it got the job done.

Now, 2 years later, I feel as though I have exhausted the options that camera has to offer. There are too many things to list, you will just have to take my word for it. I have also decided to take a shot at photography. Therefor, I need a better camera. It was finally down to two different DSLRs.

We compared and compared and finally decided on the Canon 30D. At one point, my husband was going crazy researching cameras. He had spent some time a Best Buy talking to the employees there, then later that evening he and I went to a different Best Buy and spent over an hour discussing rebates, lenses, flashes etc. Only to go home empty handed and with a possibility of me getting it by my birthday next month. *sigh* I finally had a breakdown after all of this "Research"... I told him that I couldn't bare to look at these cameras any more, not unless we were getting closer to purchasing one. He understood, and dropped the subject.

Yesterday, he asked me , "If I were to have gotten you a little present, when would you like to open it?" Well of course I said, "NOW!" I was also a bit confused, I thought we had decided that the puppy was going to be our Christmas present to each other. I thought maybe he had gotten me a necklace (something I have been asking for.. that is "little"). I was finally told to sit down on the couch and cover my eyes. So I did. Out he came with something that he placed in my lap. It sure as hell wasn't "little". I said, "Wow that is heavy!" Then I think I gasped and opened my eyes. Immediately, I started to cry. (It was like getting engaged all over again!)

There, in that heavy box, was the Canon 30D with the 18-55mm lens, and the speedlight 430ex (an external flash). All for me!

So now I am frantically trying to learn how to use this thing. I plan to take a couple courses to help me. In the mean time, here are a few of my first shots with the camera:

Almost Time

*To all you folks reading feeds... my apologies. I was trying to post older posts that didn't make it in my site transfer a few months ago. We aren't getting a third pup, that was the story of F's arrival. I forgot to change the year to 2006. Sorry.

I have had several websites for several years, and now I am finally getting everything stored into one.... damn google reader and and its indestructible feeds! :)

I am having nervous feelings about the new puppy. I know I 'll love him and it will be great to have a playmate for T... but I am starting to lose sleep over the fact that I'll actually be losing sleep once the pup is here!

I feel like an expectant mom. I've been waiting for this little booger since before he was conceived! I was so excited and couldn't wait until the puppies were born so I could pick Just. The. Right. One.

Originally, we wanted to get one that looked like T - the light red with brindle coloring. We decided to go through the same people because, not only were they super friendly ( we had a great experience with them when we got T), but we LOVE how T has turned out. He has such a friendly personality... so loving and willing to please! We also like his size & build. He's a sturdy young man! Once we saw the puppies, however, and with the influence of those close to them, we were immediately drawn to F and his chocolatey - not quite black - look.

Now that F's arrival is drawing near.... I'm getting nervous and anxious! When we were waiting on T, I was just anxious about finally getting a dog - I didn't know what I was getting into! With F, I'm getting anxious about the change of lifestyle (at least for the next few months until we get the training down). But I know that once all is said and done, everything will be great. Puppyhood only lasts for so long.

Santa Claws

Check out T's face while he was in the clutches of the Evil Santa Clause!

Prior to this shot, he did manage to take a MASSIVE poo right in front of everyone at Petsmart... while I had to try and juggle my goodies, my purse, and the dog ... all while picking up his poop.. as everyone looked on with horror. How could a dog owner be sooo irresponsible!? Gee whiz!

(this crappy picture looks like it was salvaged from a doggy-porn raid.. just saying)

O' Christmas Tree O' Christmas Tree

We got the fire place going... had the Christmas music on... and pulled our fake, cancer causing, lead filled Christmas tree out of storage.

I think the ornament down below is the best!
