Camping

This weekend, we went camping with several friends at Emerald Bay State Park at Lake Tahoe.

I was on the fence about it because even though the campsite allowed dogs (on leashes), the trails and beaches did not. When we asked the Ranger's opinion, he said it was only a big deal if someone else complains.... So ... we broke the rules and went past the "no dogs allowed" sign!

Hey, they were on leashes!

The campsite allowed dogs... but the beaches and trails don't always..... worst case scenario... we spend more time playing at the campsite and driving (with our trail book in tow that lists all dog friendly hikes) a little ways down the street for adventure.

No need though. T&F and their Chocolate pal , Buddy, were welcomed with open arms all through out the beaches, trails and campgrounds at Emerald Bay State Park.

The first night was uneventful & peaceful. T&F slept curled up deep down in our sleeping bags at first, then they got hot and took over our pillows!

The second night, was VERY windy.... and while T&F slept in the same peaceful, snoring manner... I was left heart racing and trembling with fear that at any moment, the bears who were currently pounding on all of the metal bear boxes in our camp would soon get bored and smell the left over s'mores on my mouth and barge through my tent!

Needless to say, I kept B up... nice to have company, but unfortunately, B ended up with a bad case of diarrhea in the middle of Damn Bear Infested Night! No way in hell was he leaving me alone in that tent! Instead, after sending him out to scout the site for bears (thankfully, we were right next to the restrooms...) after he was sure it was safe, we scooped up the dogs and scurried off to the bathroom. I made him share the two-stalled girls room with me and I shut the door and blocked it with a trash can.. just in case! ha. Like that would have done us any good.

After two frightful trips to the shitter with the entire family, I finally decided to to pack up and sleep in the car!

We ended up sleeping in the front seat of the Subaru (as the back was filled with dog crates), reclined and with one dog in either of our laps! So much for comfort. At least I wasn't able to hear anything inside my car and we slept until dawn ... when we woke up and scurried across to our tent to catch a few more Zzzzzz's.

Here are the pictures from the weekend.....

Hot August Nights

Every year, about this time, this town is invaded by vintage cars. The highways are congested with traffic and broken down 1957 Chevy's on their way to a park n' shine. It's nuts(but not as nuts as Street Vibrations in a few weeks.. that involves motorcycles!)!

The event is call "Hot August Nights" and last about a week, weekend to weekend. There are loads of events and thousands of participants and even more spectators. I think it brings in over $200 million for the city....tourist$$.

We went the other night and wandered around the parking lot of the Atlantis Casino... here are a few of my favorite shots.

Sleepy Puppies

The boys were bored with my lazy self today. They'd follow me from room to room and plop down to sleep ....

Here they are now ...

T says "Pucker Up"

F - bored out of his mind!

Both boys...

Just a few more hours until it is cool enough to go for a long walk and romp in the park .... hang in there boys. I'm sorry indoor fetch isn't thrilling enough for you!

Day at the Lake

It was a beautiful day, so we headed up to the lake about 20 minutes away...

And so... a game of fetch was definitely needed... both boys were interested....

and both boys were off...

but that Trixie little F ... once T was in the water, F would hang back and let T do all of the "dirty" work!

But F knew what the game was ALL about... bring the ball back to Daddums so he's say, "Good Boy! Yes you are!" in the nice, high, squeaky voice and then get the rubbins on the belly. F knew what was in store for him if he got that ball, and he was PREPARED to deliver it to Daddums -- with out getting his precious wanker wet, unlike T!

SCORE!!!

and it started allllll over again... check out the crazy eyes!

T said screw that! He knows real men have BIG sticks!

he kind of looks like he needs an exorcist when he shakes...

WAR! It is ON baby!

I live in an apartment. The parking lot outside the building is NOT assigned. The row closest to the building is covered parking and across the lot is uncovered.

For the past year.... everyone it our unit has pretty much stuck to the same couple of parking spots. Big ol' trucks park in the uncovered spots, people with cars that aren't used also park over there, leaving plenty of room for the cars that fit and that people drive pretty much every day to have the closer, covered parking.

Like the lunch room in a high school...we have unofficial, self-assigned parking. No one screws with it unless absolutely necessary. But all goes back to "normal" shortly there after.

Two weeks ago.... we got new neighbors downstairs. They have two cars.

The neighbors don't know the law of the land yet...

They have parked one of their beater cars in "my" (pre-them), covered parking spot.

On their first day here, they parked their moving van in the one uncovered spot in between the two car ports. That spot was right next to my car. Their cars were across the street and in an open spot up front.

Then my husband and I left in my car for lunch .. all of 45 minutes. When we came back, we saw that they had moved one car into the spot we had just left.

Their car hasn't moved since.

Their other car has floated around but had finally found it's own spot. Until today. I came home from lunch to find their 2nd car parked in the spot where my husband parks every day!! EVERY DAY FOR TWO WEEKS THEY HAVE SEEN HIS CAR THERE! And they snatched it up just like that!

I was slightly ok with one spot being taken ... we had worked out a musical cars system and everyone sort of slid over one spot and just started getting used to that....

but now...  I'm ticked!

Is it just me, or does it seem inconsiderate for them to park the one car that they havent driven in over two weeks in on of the coveted covered parking spaces up front??

Those parking spot thieves better watch out!! As soon as the MoFo's are gone, I'm swooping in and landing my 1997 Camry in a spot... and as myspace is my witness, I'm driving hubby to work and we will operate with only 1 car until they get the message!!!

If it meant anything for humans to piss on things to claim them, I'd do it.
