Exposa-What?

OK, so we took a three-month hiatus from Exposaroonie. I don't know about you, but I had a busy past few months. Insanely busy, actually. But now, the wedding season is over, the sun is setting at a crazy time and suddenly, I have free time on my hands. While I don't think Ashley really has the free time like I do, I do know she's been itching to get Exposaroonie up and running again for quite some time. Now I finally have the time to help with it.

After a little chat, Ashely and I decided that it might be for the best if we change a few things up. Instead of having weekly challenges, we have changed it so that each challenge lasts for two weeks. Not only does this give us a little time to breathe in between challenges, but it gives you more time to get that shot.

Another change, not only will people get to vote on their favorite submission, but Ashley and I will also be picking our favorites after each challenge - an elaborating a little on why.

Now the most important question... When is all of this happening again? Tomorrow folks!

Tomorrow at 12pm PST on exposaroonie.com, there will be a brand.spanking.new. challenge to partake in. So, I'm in. Are you?

I'm kind of excited...

Urban

Even though we were only in San Francisco for one night this weekend, I knew I wanted to try and get my Exposaroonie Challenge shot during that short time frame. So, after a late night out with friends for a 30th birthday... I made myself get out of bed at 8am so I could head out (alone) on the streets of San Francisco in hopes of finding the perfect shot. 

My challenge submission for the Urban Architecture challenge was this one.... (PS... I didn't realize I had something on my lens until later. So you'll have to deal with the spot in this picture. Blame it on lazy, tired, lady who forget to wipe it off ..... )

I just couldn't resist the sharpness in the edge of this building. However, I did realize that photographing architecture is flipping hard ... for me anyway. I just wasn't able to accomplish my vision and what I wound up with, I didn't like - for the most part. This is something I want to try and work on. Until then ... here were a few other shots from my walk ...

Guess what I am doing? Submitting my Exposaroonie Challenge picture... BEFORE the last minute! Woohoo!

Yesterday, I drove to Bridgeport, CA to 2nd shoot a wedding with the fantabulous KT Merry! I was trying over and over to come up with a picture from the wedding where I could incorporate the exposaroonie photo challenge..... Framing! This is the one I've decided on:

I took 10 minutes out of my alone time this evening to head towards downtown and snap a few shots of some old school signs that I could use for my submission for this week's  Exposaroonie Challenge.

Vibrant Colors!

I took my Exposaroonie challenge picture the other day. Actually, it was my "backup" picture in case my original idea fell through - which it did. 

My original idea? Well it was a fabulous one... in my head anyway. I want to go down town and photography some of the awesome colors in the many different casino signs that line our streets. Unfortunately, the smoke didn't inspire me. 

So, here it is, my Exposaroonie Photo Challenge for Vibrant Colors.... 

Actually, I have a similar photo that I posted a while ago. I had forgotten about it until I actually started taking pictures of this similar color chart. Eh. Who cares if my original one is better.... heh. 

Perspective

I did it ! I did it! I got back on the horse. 

Last week, I failed to participate in the Exposaroonie Photo Challenge. I know. I know. I feel horrible. Thankfully, we had LOADS of new participants last week. Go check them out! 

This week's challenge, Different Perspective, was pretty fun! There is also a SUH-WEET prize... which sadly, I'm not eligible to win. Oh well... I could always just buy one. Hmmm.... 

Back to my picture for this week. I used a prop.

I dragged the yoga ball outside and photographed it. I thought it would look kind of neat with the fisheye and on the grass. Here is my actual submission for this week's Exposaroonie Photo Challenge:

My Bad Habit

As far as I am concerned, the invention of the iPhone might as well be the downfall of our civilization. No. Seriously. 

Since I first got that thing way back in December, I don't think I've gone 15-waking minutes with out checking my email. And now that I twitter... holy bejebus folks.. I can't put the thing down. 

I think my friends are starting to leave me out of  invites because really, who wants to spend time with someone who only cares about the shiny piece of gizmology in front of them? 

That being said, my submission for this week's Exposaroonie challenge (bad habits) is this: 

What you may or may not be able to tell is in the background, is my husband... patiently waiting for me to finish what I was looking at before resuming our conversation. Poor guy.

Even thought I of this challenge way back when I first posted Bad Habits post on Friday, I loly-gagged and didn't end up attempting the picture until AFTER this amazing picture was posted by Colleen. Needless to say, I'm inspired to do better next week... and can I just say, next week's challenge may allow for a little more freedom. Oh... did I say that?

Exposaroonie Challenge: Self- Portrait

So .. don't worry, I can't win. But I still want to take the challenge picture! So, here is my official submission for this week's, Exposaroonie Challenge...

Expose Yourself, what?

Whew! So, last night was fun .. I was kept up by a few little earthquakes and the fear of The Big One hitting while I was sound asleep. Also, Thor has been throwing up since like 4pm yesterday ... and kept us up all night with his yakking. Needless to say, I didn't get much done.

This morning, I was groggy and just wanted to sleep.

But... wait, today is Friday. The day of a new photo challenge ... and... AND....

Today is the day that Ashley and I (with a lot of flipping help from her husband, Chris) launch our baby, our pride and joy ....
